Subject: David's Prayer in weakness

Psalm 41:13
Blessed be to Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. 

Psalm 41 is one of David’s many prayers. 

• Here we find the secret of David's strength in weaknesses. 
• Yahweh delivers the weak in times of trouble. 
• Yahweh protects and preserves the weak. 
• Yahweh sustains the weak on their sick bed. 
• Yahweh restores the weak from their bed of illness. 

Call on the Name of Yahweh to have mercy on us to raise us up. (Psalm 41:4, 10)

• Do not get discouraged when you are weak. 
• Lately, I've been feeling very weak. 
• Give thanks to God because I am now able to see myself clearly. 
• It is when we perceive clearly our weaknesses that we passionately call out to God with a yearning heart. 
• Our prayers are no longer apathetic. 
• When God's deliverance comes, we become strong in His strength. 

David ends his prayer with these words, "Blessed be to Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen" (Psalm 41:13).

In the previous articles, we have clearly seen that Psalm 72:19, 89:52, and 106:48 also end with this same special expression of blessing the Name of Yahweh at the close of their prayers.

Now, can you see how important the Name of God is to the Psalmists? 

Even to the end of their prayers, even when they are feeling weak in themselves, their concern is on the Name of Yahweh and to bless His Name!

How do you end your prayers to God?

Subject: The living will bless Yahweh now and forever

Psalm 115:17-18 

The dead praise not Yahweh, neither any that go down into silence. 

But we will bless Yahweh now and forever. Praise Yahweh.

One thing that strikes us in the Psalms is that the Psalmists are constantly concerned to pray for God's Shem from beginning to end in their prayers. 

The beginning prayer of Psalm 115 opens with: “Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, to Your Name be the glory because of your love and faithfulness. ” 

God is full of compassion and faithfulness when He relates to us. 

Do we also give glory to God's Name when we experience God's goodness?

• The Psalmist exhorts the Israelites to trust in the One true God whose Name is Yahweh (Psa 115:9,10, 11) and not to bow down to idols that cannot speak, cannot hear, cannot see, and cannot walk. (Psa 115:4-8)

• Yes, we put our faith in Yahweh, the Living God. Yes, we bless and worship only the Living God, Yahweh.

At the end of the Psalm, it says that "the dead cannot praise Yahweh." Psalm 115:17.

• While we live today, we must praise and bless Yahweh for His love and faithfulness towards us, and give glory to His Name. 

• One day, when we die and enter into the grave, we cannot praise God. 

In the past few months, a total of 9 of my close friends, loved ones, and family members died one after another. When I went to their funerals, I am reminded of the times that we used to praise God together in worship. Now, the departed dead cannot praise God anymore. But such time is only temporary for God's children, because one day, we will all rise up again with a resurrected body; then on that day, we will praise and bless Yahweh again together.

1.  This is why the Psalmists always say that we can bless Yahweh now and FOREVER. 

2.  We have faith for a resurrected body to praise God in eternity also.

Please take note again that this prayer in Psalm 115 ends with this same important message: 

We will bless Yahweh now and forever.

This Is My Name FOREVER - 4

SUBJECT: From everlasting to everlasting, You are God

Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses.

Psalm 90:1-2 

“Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.

Moses, the man of God, knows from the depth of his heart that only God is everlasting. 



Everlasting in Hebrew is “Olam”.

Olam means forever, everlasting, continuous existence.

• God exists outside of time and space, before all matters came into being. He has always existed in the past and will always exist in the future.

• God is immortal. He is the Eternal God, not limited by time. 

• This means God is there all the time. 

God is there to answer us when we truly call upon His Name anytime.

What a great privilege we have as His children. 

Let's truly call on our Everlasting God in prayer now and forever.

'My Name" - 4

Subject: Yahweh Yahweh - God manifests His Divine Character through His SHEM

• At another time, Moses was instructed to chisel another two new stone tablets to receive the 10 commandments from God again.

• What did God do?

• Yahweh God came down in the cloud and proclaimed "His NAME" in front of Moses.

Can you see how God places tremendous importance on His SHEM.

This time, what does God want to reveal about His SHEM?

Exodus 34:5-7

Then Yahweh came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed His NAME, Yahweh. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “Yahweh, Yahweh, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”


Can you now see how God strongly feels about His SHEM?

• He proclaims His SHEM to Moses again for the second time. 

• This time He proclaims His SHEM twice in front of Moses.

Why does God do that? 

• Whenever God says a name twice, He wants to say something EXTRA significant to grab our attention. 

• This time, God repeats not a man’s name twice, but His own name twice. 

• God is giving us important revelations of His nature and character.

1.  Our human names have no revelation.

2.  God’s SHEM Yahweh is self-revelatory.

God's SHEM progressively reveals His Divine character: He is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love, faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, forgiving, punishing sins.

Our God is too wonderful for words. 

• His deep character draws me to want to call on His Name in prayer more and more. 

• I experience His compassion and everlasting love when I call on His Name Yahweh.

'My Name" - 3

SUBJECT: I will proclaim "My Name"

One time, Moses made a request to God: “Show me your Glory”. Exodus 33:18

Can you guess how God showed His glory to Moses?

• You would have never guessed. 

• God showed His glory by proclaiming His Name to Moses.

Exodus 33:19b “…I will proclaim MY NAME, YAHWEH in your presence…”

• Can you see how strongly God feels about His SHEM, Yahweh?

• God could have done something else to show His glory.

• God chose to use His SHEM to reveal His glory.

Let’s look at the entire verse of Exodus 33:18-19:

Then Moses said, "I pray Thee, show me Thy glory!" And Yahweh said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim My SHEM, Yahweh, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.


1.  God’s glory is focused in His SHEM, Yahweh.

2.  Yahweh’s glorious SHEM reveals His goodness, mercy and compassion.


This truly motivates us to call on God's SHEM, Yahweh, in prayer.

"And blessed be his glorious SHEM for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen." Psa 72:19
