This Is My Name FOREVER - 1

SUBJECT: Yahweh is God's Eternal Name

"This Is My Name FOREVER" - God Himself says these words to Moses.

I remember singing this phrase years ago in my teens and only today, I understand the meaning of these words.  This is why it is important for us to study the SHEM of God.

This week we will explore an important revelation God wants to reveal to us through His SHEM. So important is this revelation that we will devote one week to study this important character of God.

Exodus 3:15

Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Yahweh God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My Name FOREVER, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

When God says “This is My Name”:
  • ‘this’ is referring to His Name Yahweh.
  • He gives us His Name at the beginning of the verse.
Exodus 3:15a “ יהוה, God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. …”
  • FOREVER means everlasting or eternal.
God’s Name has always been and always will be “Yahweh”, unchanged.

The phrases, “God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” refer to the covenant God made with Abraham. The covenant is reaffirmed with Isaac and Jacob. The covenant includes the promise of a great name, a great nation, a blessing to all the nations, an everlasting Kingdom and a land to possess forever.

Tomorrow we will learn another important insight from this verse. Stay tuned.

'My Name" - 7

SUBJECT: "The Name of Father written on their foreheads"

God puts so much emphasis on His Name that He even wants to write His Name on our foreheads if we are faithful and true to Him.

Rev 3:12a

“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God …”
Rev 14:1

“Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.”
Rev 22:4

“they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.”

Here, we see the unshakable proof of the great significance of Yahweh’s Name, all the way to Revelation, the last book of the Bible.

To have God’s Name written on our foreheads means to have the ‘seal’ of God.

  • It means that God's mind and character so fill our lives that we too also manifest the qualities of Yahweh God: full of mercy, grace, goodness, justice, steadfast love, and faithfulness.

Revelation also talks about the name of the beast.

Will you have the name of God on your forehead or will you have the mark of the beast?

'My Name" - 6

Subject: "My Father's Name"

God’s SHEM represents God’s authority.

When we do things in the SHEM of God, we are actually acting under the authority of God.

Jesus uses this phrase “My Father’s Name” twice to emphasize his authority comes from Yahweh.
1.  John 5:43, I come in my Father’s Name

God gives authority to Jesus through His SHEM. Jesus bears God’s Name and acts completely under the authority of His Father.

2.  John 10:25… the works that I do in my Father's Name, they bear witness of me.

Jesus’ works have power because he acted in his Father's Name. God gives power to Jesus to do miracles and to cast out demons.

God's SHEM signifies God’s highest authority.

Jesus spiritual authority came from his Father.
  • God gave spiritual authority to Jesus because He lived in total submission to His Father.
  • Jesus' life released God's power and authority to teach, do miracles, heal the sick and cast out devils.

Jesus' name is important in the New Testament.
  • God chose this name for Jesus.
  • Jesus' Hebrew name is "Yeshua".
  • "Yeshua" means "Yahweh saves".
  • Yahweh's Name is actually embedded in Yeshua's' Name.
  • This is why we can also call on Yeshua's Name as Yahweh has also given him all authority and lifted him up high with a name above all names.

In the future, we will study about the greatness of Jesus. His greatness is summed up in walking in His Father's Name.
